Definition
A hygienic tank is a storage tank filled with heating water in which drinking water is heated instantaneously as it flows through a long corrugated stainless-steel coil, so almost no potable water is stored. A fresh-water station achieves the same with an external plate heat exchanger and pump. Both minimise Legionella risk and allow lower storage temperatures, which suits heat pumps and solar systems.
